Hello! This is Sato from Syusupo staff!
In this blog, the baseball-loving Syusupo staff will bring you information about baseball.
This time, I would like to talk in detail about the "ZETT PROSTATUS PREMiUM" series, which Syusupo started handling from the 2025 Spring/Summer model!!
Up until now, Syusupo has been selling the Special Edition series (commonly known as the SE series), and we have heard a lot of good feedback such as "the leather is firm" and "it's lightweight and easy to use."
Our staff also felt the same way, and although the price is 66,000 yen, we truly felt that it offered value beyond its price (・∀・) grinning
In fact, a high school student who bought an SE series a few years ago brought it in for maintenance, and the stiffness of the thumb, web, and pinky finger was still intact, and it had developed into a really good glove!
Although he was good at maintaining it, it was a good glove that really showed the quality of the leather (I missed taking a photo...)
The embroidered welder label, the piping on the band, and the brown sheepskin are all special features of the SE series, which is also cool!
We sell a small quantity, mainly SE series infield gloves.
Please take a look!
Now, let's get to the main topic.
Some of you may be wondering, what exactly is the "PREMiUM" series? So let's start there (・∀・) grinning
Within PROSTATUS, there are different ranks, including the SE series I mentioned earlier.
The "PREMiUM" series is even higher than the SE series, truly the highest-grade series.
So what's different about it?
1. Only available at ZETT certified Diamond Shops
It's not even listed in the regular catalog, and only a limited number of stores can carry it, making it an extremely rare glove that's hard to come by!
Only a few stores in the Chugoku region, and only Syusupo in Yamaguchi, can carry it♫
Even if it's ZETT, it's unlikely to be worn by others (・∀・) grinning
2. Uses exclusive Prostatus Premium Leather
This is a premium leather that has been processed from rare Prostatus leather, which has strict selection criteria to maintain durability and suppleness, and further enhanced with a high-quality texture.
It is the top-of-the-line leather with improved luster, tackiness, and firmness.
*Excerpt from the manufacturer's description
I did hot-water molding on several gloves, and a good stiffness remained in the leather, and it was exceptionally supple, so it really felt like it stuck to my hand.
My honest impression is that it has more luster than the SE series.
3. Exclusive label that can only be attached to PREMiUM gloves
Regular Prostatus gloves have an embroidered label, while the SE series has a welder label (the silicone-like one, lol).
PREMiUM gloves have a patterned welder label!
It's a special label that only professional players with advisory contracts (players listed in the catalog) can use.
4. Design meticulously crafted by artisans
■Vertical pitcher's model
The vertical pitcher's model is highly maneuverable, emphasizing balance in the pitching motion, while the horizontal model supports powerful pitching where the glove is gripped and pulled into the body during pitching!
■Infielders' model
The two infield models are based on the models used by renowned defensive players in the baseball world♪
The Genda model is for players who want to make flowing plays by catching and fielding, while the Imamiya model is for players who want to firmly catch the ball with a deep pocket!!
The label position, web, and all other specifications are exactly the same as the gloves they actually use!
Both models support two fingers in the pinky.
For more information about inserting two fingers in the pinky, please check out our previous posts!
■Outfielder's model
The outfielder's model features a new web, the "T-belt AS."
The lower part is wider on the pocket side, and the upper part is shifted towards the thumb, making it an asymmetrical web that considers durability, flexibility, and operability (Photo ①).
Additionally, by threading a string through the index finger, it is reinforced and prevents sagging.
The size is "9," which is the most popular size for ZETT outfielders.
■Catcher's mitt
The catcher's mitt has been improved in the hand opening, allowing the hand to be inserted smoothly, and it will adapt to the shape of your hand as you use it.
In addition, the back side has a triangular V-stitch, which makes it easier to position the thumb and index finger, improving fit and operability.
As you can see, each one embodies the craftsman's dedication and passion.
Not only does it look cool, but it's also a truly cutting-edge, top-tier glove designed with functionality in mind♪
~After hot-water molding~
Before molding, I thought the leather was firm and stiff, but when immersed in hot water, it became supple, and a good stiffness remained in the leather, so it felt incredibly comfortable when I put it on.
You can carefully break it in to fit your own style (・∀・) grinning
Personally, I recommend not making the stiffness "soft" when molding.
The reason is that since it's premium leather that retains its good stiffness, making it too soft would be a waste.
I understand the desire to "use it immediately," but I think it's better to be a little patient and mold it to "normal" or "stiff."
I've always touched regular Prostatus and SE series gloves and thought, "With this quality and this price, of course they'd be popular." But ZETT truly exceeded my expectations.
The price is a bit high, but it is definitely worth more than the price!!!
If you maintain it properly, you can easily use it for three years and even in the next stage of play!
It's a glove I want all baseball players to try at least once.
